A Crymson Life

Maroon’s Light

I’m a member of our local art guild and this summer I got an email for a new event/fundraiser they are throwing this year. They asked for donations in any media as long as the piece was 8x8 inches and was able to hang. It took me a while to come up with some ideas so that I could include my work. The hardest obstacle was trying to find a way to hang my pieces. I’ve been making a lot of flat flowers this year and if I can find a good way to hang them on a wall then that would be a fabulous way of displaying my work.

This is what I came up with for the art guild, Maroon’s Light. The colors came to me instantly. The maroon, gold, and bronze compliment each other well. The bronze give the flower just a tab bit of sparkle while the maroon flower glows different shades of red in the different lighting. I like the frame idea I have going on here. It worked perfectly to give me the right 8x8 dimensions. For future pieces I have some different ideas of how to hang them. It’ll take a little experimentation but I’m sure I’ll figure something out that’ll work.

The Peoria Art Guild will exhibit my piece and all the rest of the donations from November 21st through December 20th. Pieces will be on sale during the exhibit and all profits go toward the guild. They are very proactive in bringing art to kids and highschoolers so it’s a great cause. There will also be a party on Dec. 6th so if you’re in the area check their website out for more details.
