enjoying gifts
Over the last week we’ve been trying to get ourselves back into normal routine. It’s been busy which is sorta ironic b/c our routine really isn’t that busy. We’ve taken down our Christmas decorations, started hooking up gifts or putting them in their new homes. And we have been enjoying the consumable gifts. In late Nov we got an early package from BE in Germany. In it had an adorable beaded sock (which now has a home on my work bench in the bead room. I’ve put special stone and glass crystals in the sock). A couple of chocolate pieces that we ate a long while back. And 4 precious bags of tea that they picked up on their vacation to Sylt. She sent two green teas, one peach flavored and the other with a more tropical flavor. There was an herbal tea and a black tea. I’m not normally a big tea drinker but these were special and BE has been raving about tea lately so I gave it a go. Each tea bag made a liter of tea, which a bit more than I’m used to. So in the mornings I made a liter of tea and Chris took half to work and I took the other half and we both enjoyed the gift.
I haven’t ask Chris his favorites, but we both very much enjoyed drinking tea in the mornings. It’s healthier than my normal coffee and yet still warmed me up. I think my favorite was the Sylt Golden Leaf black tea, friesian blend. BE mentions that this one was a milder Frisian tea b/c they are normally quite strong. This one was nice…I liked the flavor and would probably even like some that would have a bit more to them. Both green teas were very good as well. I think I liked the peach a bit more but they were both very relaxing and yummy. The herbal tea was good but very very mild. I let the bag steep for a while (a lot longer than suggested) and still was too mild for me. Now that I’ve used up these teas we went to the store and looked at our selection. We bought a Green tea w/ orange, passionfruit, and jasmine. It’s ok..but definitely not as good.
We also received some wine gifts from my parents when they went out to New Mexico and Arizona last month. They brought us back a bottle of cabernet sauv with red chili pepper in it. We tried this with some steak tacos and it was really tastey. Definitely a wine you need to eat with though, once dinner was done and I was still sipping the wine you could definitely taste the chili pepper in there!! And they brought us back some decadent chocolate sauce that had cab sauv in it. This stuff is wonderful, you mostly taste the chocolate but the wine flavor is definitely there! I’ve been enjoying it over frozen yogurt and crushed walnuts. mmmmmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Oh, I have just read this! Great. The picture is wonderful. I am surprised that you like the black tea.
I am having a new black tea (we now order from the tea shop from time to time): “Moin, moin”. I will send you a sample sometime in the future. It is a little bit stronger! This post was really a great compliment for the Friesian teas!
