opening at last

brrrr its cold!  We woke up this morning to an additional 4inches of snow on the ground and more snow lightly falling.  We crawled out of bed, made our lunches, had breakfast, dug out the car, and headed to work.  With in 10min of starting up my work computer an announcement was made through the intercom that the building was closing.  woo hoo and snow day!!!!  Today we ran some errands, went out to the sushi place for some of their soup and green tea, and rented some movies.  So far we watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  Chris hadn’t seen it before so that was fun.  Then tonight we’re going to watch Burn after Reading.  I haven’t heard anything about it so hopefully it’s good.  I’ve also been doing some doodling and beading this afternoon.  As soon as this is posted I’m going to continue with the beading.

The photo is the amerillis that mom gave me at Thanksgiving.  It’s taken it this long to finally bloom!  And it’s just starting!  It’s sitting on my dining room table and the two buds have grown so tall that they come up past the chandilier.  It’s really very beautiful and I’m excited to finally have one.  I think I’m going to keep it and plant the bulb outside this summer.  Hopefully then next winter it’ll bloom again.

There’s talk that maybe work will be canceled again tomorrow.  The high temperature predicted for tomorrow is negative 3 degrees.  It would suit me just fine to stay home and warm and not bothering to go outside at all.

wow, that really looks impressive! I can’t believe it took that long to bloom. Mine just shot up another stem and is blooming again.

Have I already told you that Amaryllis is one of my favourite flowers? It’s because when I was younger, they sold them just before my birthday and so I often got one at my birthday, sometimes already blooming! Today, they seem to sell them much earlier everywhere.
