lampwork
I’m a little late in posting this but still thought I needed to share. My friend has started melting glass and making beads. I’d heard her mention her new lampwork hobby a couple times in passing but I hadn’t really been able to see any thing she’d made. Well this year for our secret santa she drew my name and surprised me with a bag of her lampwork beads. They are a wonderful little collection in lots of different colors. She made a small set with ivory and a periwinkle blue. There are a couple neat ones that are mostly clear glass with just a little touch of blue in there so that depending on how you look at them the entire bead can look blue. Some have some silver in them which gives it a great organic look. And the bright blue one in the back is her first attempt at a hollow. If you look closely you might be able to see the little bubble in the center of the bead.
I’ve already made a flower out of one of the beads. I’ll post pics soon. I have plans for a flower with one of the red, clear, and silver beads. I’m brainstorming on what to do with the set she made. I always appreciated lampwork but never really bought any. Now I might be addicted. Although I can’t get myself really in to wanting to learn to do it myself. I did some research earlier this week about it. I’m obsessed with the idea of making beads from recycled wine bottle glass. I’ve seen them here and there on etsy. I think maybe I’ll just buy some soon…since I can’t really get them out of my head.

They are lovely. Who of your friends made them? I love the two blue ones in the front and in the back. They shine like the ocean. I also like the beige ones with the blue “bubbles” at the front right pretty much.
