A Crymson Life

color surfing

Last weekend I spent the weekend w/ Chris and my brother relaxing. We drank beer, played video games and enjoyed each others company. I need weekends like this to defrag, I feel so much better afterwards. After the Dude left on Sunday I spent a lot of time in the bead room. Only color surfing, digging through my boxes of colors, picking out color combinations or just hanks that I hadn’t seen in a long time. I know I haven’t posted any real finished projects up in a long while. I have them, they are in my assembly line at the end, waiting for me to figure out the finishing steps. I’m not ready to show these projects because they are new and different from what’s in my gallery now. Unfortunately, I don’t feel a huge pull to get me to force myself to finish these projects. They are still on my list of goals, but not on my list of fun relaxing things to do. In fact I’m sorta on a teeter totter to find out if beads are currently on my list of fun relaxing things to do.
I enjoyed the color surfing, so that’s a good sign. The pic is of the piles that I put together. The colors are bright, warm, and fun. Combinations that I haven’t worked with in a while so they seem new and exciting right now. The thought right now is to make something for me. I haven’t made anything with myself in mind since Jamaican Sun 3 years ago. I’m not 100% sure what the end product will be or if these colors will for sure be it. But the game plan for the moment is perhaps a wreath for our front door. The colors would work across the spring and summer seasons and right now a wreath there would make me happy. Hopefully the beads find my hands soon to get started.
If they don’t then you’ll probably hear a lot more about plans for outside. There are big projects I want to tackle this spring in the back yard. I want to replace parts of our deck, then treat the deck, build a retaining wall, set up the garden, start a compost pile, learn to can and preserve. I also have recently started thinking more about photography. I’m just in the research stages now, and I need a new camera anyway. I’m in the mood to learn new things and get excited about it. So for now that’s where I’m headed.
