Action shots

We spent last weekend in St. Louis, Chris had a Kuk Sool Won tournament all day Saturday. The weather was beautiful and warm, bordering on hot with temps in the 90ies. The tournament was all day Saturday and so I armed myself with my camera and books to help pass the time. Turns out I didn’t need the books at the tournament. I spent my time snapping photos. I was trying to get action shots, and I probably should have read more about the workings than I did. Instead I used the action shot setting preset on the camera. I got some ok photos that I up loaded to the flicker site. I was hoping for better. I knew that parts would be blurry b/c of the motion but I guess I was hoping certain parts would be sharper while others stayed blurry. I’m not really sure what I wanted was achievable, but oh well.

The tournament went well. Chris won two metals, a gold in sparring, and a bronze in forms. His buddy Matt also won two metals. There was a lot going on that entire day. Black and brown belts were fun to watch because they got to do forms with different weapons. Their techniques were also a lot more elaborate so that people were often being flipped and thrown around. At the very end there were some demonstrations by the masters and some of the schools. Chris’s school demonstrated breaking blocks. They all lined up across the gym and broke pieces of wood. Chris hit through his and Matt kicked his. One girl in his class wall jumped and then kicked through her board. And Chris’s teacher broke through ten bricks with his forearm.

I also took some more flower and tree pictures.  Some are from St. Louis others are from my back yard.  I only remembered to upload a couple though.  So I’ll upload the rest tonight.
