garden’s in
I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! We were very busy and had a great time. But before leaving to head up to Chicago I spent Friday morning putting the rest of the garden in. Here is a pic of how it looks. The garden is a long triangle and the entire left side was small trees and large shrubs. Over the past month I cleared them away and put up the fence so the bunnies don’t get more harvest than me. The bright green lines are where I planted cucumber seeds. The pink lines are the zucchinis. The blue lines are edamema. The gold lines up front are a combination of tomato plants, pepper plants, and a single egg plant plant. Along the right is the rhubarb and the blueberry bush. Since I cleared out all the shrubs and trees the garden nearly doubled in size, so there is an empty area in the middle, and I planted more of each crop than originally intended. We’ll see how everything turns out this summer!
After finishing the garden we headed up to Chicago. We had a hotel for the night in the city and planned to go to the Howl at the Moon bar. Chris had won a VIP party there and we were meeting a group of friends. Before the party though we walked around Millennium Park and lucked out to see that the Art Institute had free admission. They had just opened up the new Modern Art Wing, so we went in and checked it out. It’s huge! And beautiful. And the little time we spent there was really not enough because we wanted to see the older art as well. We walked through the Asian and Egyptian sections that I’d never seen before. We walked through a furniture section where there was some Frank Loyd Wright furniture. Very cool stuff, and such a cool place! The Howl at the Moon party was blast and an awesome show.
Saturday we drove back to the suburbs to be lazy until the evening where we went to a graduation party and saw family we hadn’t seen in a few years. The weather was fantastic all weekend! Sunday we took both sets of parents to the White Sox game for a combined Mother’s/Father’s day gift. What a great day for a game. Sunny and warm, but not hot, although my nose is sunburned. It was really a decent game despite they lost. We saw some great defensive plays. I took lots of Holga pics in the city. I’m also shopping around for a scanner so I can share more of the holga pics that I have. I’m signed up for a couple of digital classes next month so hopefully I’ll learn more about the digital so I can get more pics I’m happy with on that as well. Today we were lazy, which is good b/c it’s going to be a busy week.

I like your garden! I think it will help to inspire part of my current piece! I don’t have a garden. Only a deck and a parking lot. A garden of pavement!
