A Crymson Life

29 plus 1 update

We’re fast approaching the new year and I thought I’d take a peak at my progress so far on my list.  I have 6 items completed, and 10 items are in progress.  I have 8 months to finish up the rest, I can see some of it happening and some of it maybe not….

1. Learn to be a good Mom: this is an ongoing learning process, I think I’m off to a good start.
2. Take a class: no progress/plans yet
3. Make salted caramels: DONE! just need to blog it
4. Winey Thoughts: I’m excited about this one, I’ve been updating fairly regularly w/ reviews and other winey thoughts.  I’m also in the middle of giving it a new look.
5. Read 15 books: I’m almost done with number 6.  The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series (3), The Bell Jar (4), The Old Man and the Sea (5), Kitchen Confidential (6)
6. Update this blog 2x week: I’ve been slacking on this a bit, but I at least get my holga loving wednesdays up weekly
7. Plant a garden: I’ll deal w/ this next year
8. Learn to can: Next month I want to make some raspberry jalapeno jam and can it.  I’ve been getting kinda excited about this, and then thoughts of making marmalade and even maybe vanilla extract.
9. Loose the baby weight: I haven’t actively been doing anything, I’m pretty much back to prebaby weight, but not preboozefest summer weight.  I’ll think about this next year.
10. Yoga daily for 1 month: I was real excited about this, now it seems extremely hard.  I want to, but it will require planning
11. Local businesses: I stopped keeping track of all the local joints we go to.  I do actively try to check them out and support them.
12. Bake a pie: for some reason I’ve been putting this off.  Soon, I’ll make one soon.  =)
13. Donate/Volunteer: DONE! although I want to do more
14. Photo Challenge: In progress…not sure I’ll make my own deadline, but I’m trying.
15. Organize bead closet: haven’t even thought about it
16. Paint master bedroom: Color is picked out, but haven’t thought about actually getting it done.  spring perhaps.
17. Sewing machine: Going on 2 years since I’ve used a sewing machine, I haven’t really thought about trying again
18. Rock Quilt: But I’m very anxious to finish the Rock Quilt which requires the sewing machine
19. Pay off the truck: on our to do list for the next month or two
20. Ryker’s journal and photos up to date: photos are there, and only a month behind in the journal
21. Organized garage: Done! yeay!
22. Go to a movie alone: I had plans to go see Eat Pray Love by myself but that never happened.  Now there isn’t anything playing that I want to see.  I figure it should be something girly Chris won’t be interested in.
23. R’s 1st bday party: talk to me in May
24. Fix leaky sinks: Done…sorta.  We spent a day taking apart our sink and replacing parts.  It’s leaking again.  Not sure I have it in my for round two.
25. Kayak Chicago: I think I’m going to substitute this for going to Toast of the Town in Chicago.  It’s a huge wine tasting w/ food from local restaurant in the Field Museum.  It looks and sounds amazing.
26. R to 1st baseball games and the zoo: have to wait until it warms up
27. Follow a pattern: DONE! the advent socks!!!
28. Meet w/ girlfriends once a month: in progress, and we’ve done a great job keeping up with this.  I meet up with two friends for dinner and drinks once a month.  It’s great, a wonderful night to look forward to and get out for a bit.  I’ll probably keep this going beyond the year mark.
29. Buy and learn to use a 35mm camera: mostly done! I bought a Superheadz ultra wide blue slim 35mm camera.  It’s little and cute and I really love it.  It’s not hard to use technically but I’m still experimenting with it and learning how to get the coolest effects with it.  It gives me amazing light flares.  In fact it seems to do best in bright lights, either I get super saturated colors or some very drastic black and white effects.
30. Tweet a happy thought a day: I’m doing really well with this.  I’ve missed a hand full of days but make them up first thing the next day.  It’s good for me to think of something happy each day, even if it is just how good the beer tastes.  I have always been able to come up with something happy, which can put things in perspective on some crappy days.
