too much randomness?
I think I’m over thinking the randomness of my Rock Quilt. I love the fact that the pieces are being randomly assembled to give a mish mash of different blacks, splashes of color, and different sized squares/rectangles. Last night I laid out the sewn pieces of the quilt on our queen size bed (60”x80”), to get a feel for where I stand. So far I’ve sewn together 4 pieces that are approximately 2ish feet sorta square. I laid them out with the thought of joining the four to get one large piece. I could start working from here to figure out how big this is going to get. Then I realized how much of the bed was already covered and came to the realization that this might and very much could fit a queen sized bed…I have that much more material to piece together. WOW! I’m excited about this, and slightly overwhelmed, but more ambitious to tackle this project. At least the piecing part…the thought of backing it totally scares me. Then while talking w/ Mom on the phone I realized it might not be the right time to form one large piece. It is much easier to sew small pieces in my lap than having to hold large amounts of fabric so that I can sew straight. Tonight I plan to sew a couple more smaller blocks and then maybe come back to laying it all out again this weekend and see where it stands.
