rocktober

We’re half way through October and for the last month I’ve been more of a lurker than a blogger. What can I say, life on the other side has been busy! Football season has started and Chris and I make weekly picks as well as make attempts to watch the Bears every week. Scary movie month is in full swing. This year we started up netflix in order to get some of the harder to find scary movies. So far we’ve watched…

The Descent: So far the creepiest new movie we’ve seen this year. With this movie if you actually pay attention to the plot there’s a bit more to it than just scary things living in the dark places of the earth. We both enjoyed this one and rate it 4.5 out of 5 crawlers.

Halloween: One of my faves that I enjoy watching during October. I’ll probably end up watching it again on tv sometime before halloween. 5 out of 5 knitting needle stabbings.

Monsters vs Aliens: To lighten it up we watched the newly released Monsters vs Aliens. It’s not really halloweeny or scary but it did involve evil aliens that try and take over San Francisco so it counts. We both enjoyed this cartoon, it was cute, witty, and fun guessing who all the characters were voiced by. 4 out of 5 Bobs.

Land of the Dead: One of the million bazillion zombie movies out there. Neither of us had seen this but picked it b/c some of the actors were recognizable names. This was more humorous than scary. It’s basically when zombies get smart…which really blows the whole idea of zombies. It was still a good laugh. 3 out of 5 Samoan car thieves

The Crow: A great movie from the 90ies. I remember how much this movie affected some of my friends in high school. Suddenly it was cool to wear all black and grow your hair long. And the sound track was amazing, we even downloaded it last night. 4 out of 5 little worm on a big frigging hook.

In other news I’ve begun steps to mount my flower for my 8x8 donation. I’m still back and forth if I will donate a holga image as well and if I do how I will hang it. The due date is fast approaching so it’s in the works. I spent a good amount of time last weekend working on the quilt of rock. It’s now in primarly in two large pieces that make up about 2/3s of the finished quilt. B/c of the size it’s become a pain to work on in short spurts and so is mainly saved for a weekend when I have more time to dedicate to it. I’m still shooting pics with my holga and really enjoying it. I’ve slowed down a bit b/c it’s been so cold outside.

Two weekends ago I was back home and digging through Mom’s yarn stash when the yarn bug bit me. I have plans for several crochet projects. All of which I’m excited for but need to finish up some of my other loose strings before new things get started.

I am seeing - as much plans as I have for fall and winter. And in quite different medias as well! Donating a holga pic sounds good to me. Can’t think of a disadvantage! So just do it. smile
And I love the title of this entry!!! smile Rock on in rocktober ...
