A Crymson Life

anniversary tradition

Three years ago today Chris and I were married under a pavilion on a beach in Jamaica.  Storm clouds were rumbling in the distance, and about 10 min after the ceremony a large double rainbow filled the sky.  It was a memorable day/night and always makes me smile to think about it.  Since then on October 21 we’ve inadvertently started a tradition that really has nothing to do w/ Jamaica.  For our one year anniversary we were in Gatlinburg TN, and the anniversary fell on a Sunday.  We got all dressed up and ventured into town to find a nice restaurant for dinner.  Unfortunately the entire town had shut down for Sunday and we ended up being dressed up and dining at Taco Bell.  It’s been sort of an inside joke since.  Then a year later our two year anniversary came around and we debated whether or not to go to taco bell.  Instead we made home made tacos!  And thus started the tradition of Mexican food for our anniversary.  This year we both wanted to go to my fave local Mexican restaurant, Jalapenos, but I have a pretty nasty cold and didn’t want to sniffle around other people for an entire meal.  So once again we enjoyed Taco Bell, this year eaten picnic style at home.  It’s a silly little tradition but it makes us happy, and it’s fun to have something unique that’s truly our tradition.
