petals

After work on Thursday Chris and I watched the final preseason Bears game, and during that I worked on the flowers I’ve been talking about.  I was really truely intending on digging out the greens again when I thought of a really great color combo for a new lily.  So I made the petals for that, and while doing so I came up with a couple more color combos.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have time that night to work.  Friday night we were at the rehersal dinner until too late to work.  So Saturday before the wedding the weather was so great we went out for a jog.  When I got home I dug out the color combos that I thought of on Thursday.
And that was the start of a major chain reaction.  I went in the bead room and came out a half hour later with ideas with four more color combos.  I kept them in piles so I wouldn’t forget.  I was able to make about a flower and a half before I had to get ready for the wedding.  The wedding was a lot of fun, the ceremony was a lot quicker than I expected, but was really beautiful.  Chris and Gary sounded great on the guitars.  They played Jesu and Canon while the moms and the bridesmaids walked down the isle.  Then she had a trumpet play while she came down, and at one point her aunt sang.  It was very musical and very cool.
Sunday morning we slept in and then went out for breakfast.  I brought my beads outside on the deck and beaded and beaded and beaded.  The color combos were just popping out at me.  I’d work with one color and immediately come up with another color that would work perfectly with it.  And it just kept going on like that.  By dinner time I took the pic above.  There are petals there for ten flowers, that includes the flower and a half I made on Saturday.  After dinner I made petals for two more flowers.  AND I had combos picked out for another four.  These are all simple flowers, designs that I’ve made before, but when colors are talking I can’t ignore.  It was extremely theraputic to just stop thinking about design and to strictly play with color combinations.  I really needed to shut up and listen b/c colors were apparently screaming at me.  At the end of the night Sunday I had petals for twelve flowers.  As I was putting Willow to bed, (she sleeps in the bead room) I dumped out a small drawer of and came up with ANOTHER idea to work on the next morning…..

Wooohooo! You’ve been busy. What I can see looks very good! I am curious to see the bluish-greenish petals on the bottom left a little bit closer. They look interesting! Good that colours scream to you. They have been screaming to me, too, recently ... wink

After I put all the petals together into rough flowers the blue green ones ended up being my favorites.  I’m excited to see what flowers it’ll get paired up with.
