A Crymson Life

In the air

Autumn is definitely in the air, I can smell it in the wind. Weird huh?, but it’s true. The wind has the faint scent of fallen leaves, which I love. I love fall too, but it still seems too early. My mood has switched into fall colors, especially after making all those petals over the weekend. Looking at them the majority are fall like, plus of course the pumpkin. I’m really excited for this weekend, I’m setting aside some more time to bead. I want to make more pumpkins, and I’ve come up with a good idea for a bouquet arrangement. I haven’t made a larger bouquet arrangement since my wedding bouquet.
I’ve just found out about a couple of up coming exciting events. First, a flower I made called Rusty Rose has been accepted into another exhibit at the Peoria Art Guild. The exhibit runs October 5th through early November. I have not posted a picture of this flower but it is a new design incorporating new techniques for me. I am really very proud of how it turned out and think you would really enjoy it. If you’re interested in seeing it come visit the exhibit next month.
Autumn is also the season for art fairs and shows. I received an email today with a list of art shows in the Chicago area just over the next two weekends. One this weekend I’m bummed I had forgotten about b/c I wanted to check it out as a possibility for next season. Sunday Chris and I are going to drive up to Mackinaw and hit up their winery. They’re having an art fair and wine tasting that afternoon that sounds fun. Next weekend I’ve discovered a couple of fun events I want to check out. The Naperville RiverWalk Art Fair is going on, I went to this with Chris a few years back and it was a really good fair. Lots of people come and the art is really good quality. Then on that Sunday the Bead Society of Greater Chicago is having a Bead and Book sale. I recognize some of the vender names as ones I saw at the Bead and Button show. One vender I really was excited to see and the reason I really want to go is Aardvark Art Glass. They make crazy unusual glass beads. I love their masks and kinda want one to bead a body for. I love these creations too, they’re so unique! If I go to the show I’ll really be looking for one of their fish beads. I think one of these fish beads would work perfectly in an aquarium project I’ve very slowly been working on. Hopefully it’ll work out. Then on the last weekend of September the Peoria Art Guild has their annual Art Festival which has become my favorite show. Mostly b/c it’s close and they get really high end artists to participate. Last year we bought a stained glass piece for our wall. I very much plan on attending that show.
