A Crymson Life

addicted to starting new projects

I should say addicted to dreaming about new projects.  The following is my ambitious and totally unrealistic list of things I want to do, create, learn, and play with in the near future.

~ scan in new toy camera shots from the bears game last week.  I didn’t love lots of the photos and need to spend more time composing a shot before I shoot.  It’s a mind frame that I had once and need to find again.
~ noticed that the Light Leaks 19 submissions are due end of Feb, the theme is Secrets.  It would be cool to submit a photo but I don’t think I have a current one that fits.
~ review more wines for Winey Thoughts.  I go in spurts of drinking wine and not all wines I drink get reviewed.  But in my low spurts I feel like the blog is dead, which I don’t like.  There’s only so much I have to say about wine too.  It occurred to me this wouldn’t have been a problem 4 years ago when M and I would have weekly wine nights.  And now that Lost is gone and done I don’t really have another show to replace to make a new wine night.  The Academy Awards are coming up and I plan to have friends over and skype and drink wine.
~ knitting…. I’ve wanted to learn for a while.  It’s never been a good time.  Now is no better, but heck the class is here now and its a reasonable price and an excuse to buy yarn at the fun yarn shop.  The thing is I have to learn the easy stuff first and everything I want to learn is not the easy stuff.  The class is to learn to cast on, knit, and cast off, so we’re making a dish towel or a scarf….boring.  I want to learn to knit and purl and to make hats, mittens, and socks.  Which is probably a couple classes above the one next weekend.
~ keep going on my afghan.  I love that afghan and progress is so slow.  Time that could be spent working on it I’m taking a class to knit.  That’s how unfocused I am.  sigh.
~ I’m addicted to blogs.  crafty blogs that inspire like kabs and anna.  Both use color in ways that amazes me, awes me, and makes me think I have to do that.  They’ve made we want to crochet ruffley scarves (so not me).  And they make me need quilts made from bright bold fabrics.  I mean how amazing is it to see pics with people bundled up in bright crazy quilts.  I can drool at them all day.
~ and food blogs.  All kinds of food blogs. Brown Eyed Baker and her treats, Baked Bree has some amazing looking meals, and my newest interest canning so Food in Jars is a fun place to go and dream
~ canning is something I’ve wanted to learn for a while now as well.  I have a bunch of jam recipes I want to try out, and then I start searching and there’s about a million more out there that just start sounding good.  Then I start to spin circles and can’t decide what to try first.  ugh.  marmalade, jams, relishes, salsas, mom made some lemon curd that’s supposed to be amazing, if that’s good lime curd has got to be beyond.  then i thought raspberry and lime sounded good together.  again spinning in circles.
~ I am going to make some homemade vanilla extract and some vanilla sugar.  I’m super excited.  I need to get out and buy some jars to put it in.
~ shopping…and for things that I don’t need but want.  pretty jars for jams and vanilla.  baskets to put yarn in or to hold R’s toys.  things that I really don’t need.
~ I have a fun crafty idea for cute tags for the jam jars when I make them.  It includes some hodge podge, fabric, and maybe paint.  it requires experimenting.
~ been brainstorming my garden already.  thinking I want to build a raised flower bed near the house for herbs.  then found this raised bed made from cinder blocks and they put mosaic on the sides to make it super cool.  I want to use river rock, and pieces of copper and steel in the mosaic.  the copper would patina green and the steel would rust.  it would be a less bright and childlike mosaic, and way smaller than their garden.

Now I should get my head out of the clouds.  Reality is here and is demanding dinner.  Hopefully one of the above will get done.  smirk

I thought, I was interested in a lot of things and never get everything done! wink
Knitting hats is not so difficult. You just need to know how to increase and decrease in addition to the basics. And that’s really not much more! I am so excited!
Music, knitting and taking & post-processing pictures are my “projects” currently and you never have enough time ... wink

See I think it’s better to always have a list of projects, but like you I need to finally start accomplishing some. And drink more wine. That I can easily do!
