A Crymson Life

the great pumpkin

Here is Monstro the pumpkin, I started it last month and ran out of beads.  Last week I found more beads and finished up the pumpkin part.  This weekend while watching the Cubs lose I finished up the leaves, wrapped the stem, and made part two of the pumpkin.  The smaller pumpkin next to Monstro is one of the first pumpkins I made.  Monstro is about a total of 5” tall, the actual pumpkin itself (orange part is roughly 2.5”).  Monstro was initially supposed to be a tall skinny pumpkin which would have added to the height, but it was decided this weekend that it looked too much like an orange, so it was flattened out into typical pumpkin shape. The small pumpkins I’ve made are roughly an 1.5” tall.  The great pumpkin isn’t quite finished, I’ve also made a face for it to become a jack o lantern.  The face is currently sitting in a patina, so that will be another post.
So far the weekend has been a lot of fun.  We went to Chicago Friday and went out for a great dinner with Chris’s family.  Saturday we met up with mine to go to breakfast, and the rest of Saturday was spent relaxing and hanging out.  We came home pretty early today to see Orion since it was his first time alone for more than a day.  He’s doing well and we missed him a lot.

That’s funny that Monstro could have been an orange, too. I like oranges! smile Of course, I like pumpkins, too. I need to make pumpkin soup again ... I can’t wait to see his face. The stem is so cool again!!! Good job.

And I am happy that you enjoyed your weekend.
