happenings
Things are happening in the bead realm here. I did some lacing over the weekend, and last night started on some leaves. I’m working on some flowers that were picked out for gifts for a friend of mine. I hope she’s still interested, but then if not its a couple more finished flowers on my list. I’ve been making petals again too, when not in the mood for leaves. I’ve really been leaning towards greens, they’re in my head. It’s not often you see a green lily, but I made one the other day. I have color combos (not just greens) picked out for another few flowers, some I haven’t made in ages, and some are my standard flowers that I just enjoy making.
I’ve been really inspired by other people’s work lately. For Christmas last year Chris bought me a beading calendar. Each day had a new how to project or a picture of someone’s work. Over the weekend the picture was of a piece called Willow Winter by Barbara Grainger. I’ve seen her work before, but I really liked this piece. The idea of whites on whites like that and all the detail that is in the piece, but you really have to look hard to see it. Here is a link to her page, Willow Winter is at the bottom on the right, and the picture in the calendar is a million times better. I’ve also been following my fellow bead bloggers a lot lately. Lone Beader is starting a new project which is looking like the self portrait she’s mentioned a couple times. I’m so excited b/c I think that is brave, to me self portraits can be a bit intense, you really need to look at yourself and things that aren’t on the outside tend to show. It’ll be very cool to watch progress. And BeadExplorer has been diligently working on her peyote handbag. She designed the pattern herself and picked out such wonderful colors. I wish I could hold it because it looks like it feels wonderful. The finishing process is a bit tedious, but that’s just a sign of a good piece.
I also watched the Sci Fi channels mini series The TinMan. It’s another take on the Wizard of Oz. Yes, it was corny acting just like an original sci fi channel film, but I found myself sucked into the world. I think that’s easy for me to do, get sucked in to those fantasy worlds. I’ve read the LOTR trilogy twice and am thinking I’m due for a third round. It’s a way I relax and let my mind wander free, and I think it’s because of watching this that I’ve been coming up with ideas for green flowers.
What I really should be focused on is finishing up some flowers and bouquets that I have laying around. =/ Tonight Chris and I plan on going on a date. Then I might make some more leaves for the flowers I want to finish up. Thursday night I should have time to work on stuff. But this weekend I think I’m heading up to Chicago to shop. That is if I can figure out what I’m shopping for!

I know Willow Winter! It IS a cool piece. I really love it!

And thanks for mentioning me. I am still beading the first side and fortunately, this is not tedious. However, I cannot concentrate on beading as much as I would like to! I hope that I will have a lot of time tomorrow. We’ll see!
Can’t wait to see the green lily!
