between two ice storms and into the fog
This weekend I went to Chicago to see my parents and do some shopping. We had a lot of fun and spent a lot of $$!
Saturday night an ice storm blew through the area leaving everything wet and slippery Sunday. Not wanting to risk driving 200miles in icy conditions and stayed up in Chicago another night. It was such a nice cozy little vacation up to my parents, the weather was icky, and so we spent a lot of time sitting under blankets reading or watching movies we haven’t seen in a long time. Monday morning I left in the morning and drove back to Peoria. It was a quiet drive and I rocked out to Devin Townsend. Chris discovered his solo band last year while we were in Montana and one of his songs has quickly become the the mountain or Montana song, but the entire cd is very good. It kinda relaxes me to sing along with him, and music doesn’t normally effect me much. As soon as I got out of the Chicago area I drove into some pretty dense fog. The roads were fine, at some points they were even dry, but the fog was creepy to watch. It felt like rolls of white swallowing me up, which was fun and creepy at the same time. The fog never really went away. The forecasters were calling for another major ice storm to hit Monday night and keep pummeling us until late Tuesday. Fog turned into rain which never really turned into ice, so the storm didn’t close work like we’d hoped. I think Chicago ended up with a lot of the ice. It’s still raining now, so if it gets any colder it will turn to ice. The weather is supposed to clear up during the day Wed, but then Wed night we’re supposed to get snow. Winter is here in all it’s glory.
Winter has also inspired me for my next bouquet. One of the stops we made over the weekend was a local bead shop to pick up a specific color I want to experiment with. I’ll show a pic soon. But with the weather the way it is and after looking at and admiring Willow Winter, I have my next bouquet brewing in my head. First I must finish those gifts I’ve mentioned, but they are very close to finished. Pics to come soon this week!

Ah, Devin Townsend. I think I liked one of the Strapping Young Lad song from the 90ies but all in all the music of the band is too “agitative” for me.
But I don’t know any of his solo stuff.
I am so envious that winter is there! I want winter to be here, too, but it’s just grey and rainy.
A white bouquet?
That would be great!
