xmas loot
Christmas was good to me beadwise. I said before I received a torch from Chris, I still haven’t had time to go shopping for the saftey equipment but I will soon. In my free time I’ve been shopping around online for other materials I’ll need. From my parents I received a nice hammer and a dapping block and punch set. It’s used to dome metal, which in my mind will be useful for petals.
I also received the braclet on the right. Mom made it for me and I LOVE it. It is made from copper and sterling sliver wire and beads. The lampwork bead used as a focal was one I picked out at the Bead and Button show last summer. It is green b/c the artist used copper in the bead that oxidized and turned green. I’d given it to Mom to make me something with, and this is what I got!

Over the long Christmas weekend I spent a lot of time beading along side my Mom and Grandma. It’s really very cool when we’re all working together oooing and awwing and brainstorming together, three generations of us and our minds are very much alike. I’m not sure if it was something in the wine or the influence of Mom’s wire work but I made a bracelet over the break. I’m not a jewelry maker, I normally don’t enjoy it, and normally won’t wear it. While at Blue Frog drooling over mounds of unusual beads, I found these smokey quartz beads and they sparkled so much I had to have them. I bought some smaller black onyx beads to compliment and came up with the bracelet. It’s not finished well, the jump rings are very rough and the LOS treatment is not even, but I like it and both bracelets are simple, interesting, and my taste. I wear them every chance I get right now.

Your mom made that? It came out looking great!
Your bracelet is cool, too. I like the wire clasp:)
