A Crymson Life

da bears

>What a amazing experience going to Soldier Field to see the Bears play.  And not just see them play but see them play against the Packers in the playoffs.  The only thing missing was a win, but really that doesn’t matter. I had an amazing time with a once in a life time opportunity with great friends and family.
>It was cold, about 8hrs in below freezing temps.  We had on lots of clothes, probably an additional 20lbs of clothes.  I’m sore from walking around all day and carrying around that much extra weight.  But I needed every article of clothes.  The only part of me that really got cold were my feet.  By the end of the game I was worried that my baby toes would be frost bit or wouldn’t thaw out.  They did, but it took a while.
>I managed to be slightly sunburned and frost bit at the same time!
>I ate a jumbo polish sausage with onions and sauerkraut on a pretzel bun.  It was $8 and worth every penny.  I also had a $7 hot chocolate.
>I got my picture taken with Jay Hilgenberg the center from the 1985 Bears
>I took two rolls of holga and a roll and a half of blue slim pics.  I get the film back Friday evening.
>I tried to focus on people pics, especially shots of bears and packers fans together.  But I ended up not really thinking about pics much, it was more just a point and shoot method.  By midday I had a hard time advancing the film with numb cold fingers.
>I had forgotten that they take commercial breaks on the field.  There were a lot b/c it was the playoffs.  I find it annoying.
>I also think if we have to take commercial breaks, then we should at least be told what people at home hear about the game.  ie if someone is injured or leaves the game, why? and what happened?  People pay big bucks to go to these games, you would think that would be apart of the package.
>I learned that you make lots of noise when the opposing team is on offense so they can’t hear each other. And you’re supposed to be quiet for our offense. I’d been told this before but didn’t realize that it is really enforced and encouraged.
>I am bummed the Bears didn’t win, but I do think the better team won.
>I will probably be yelled at for this but I enjoy watching Arron Rodgers play.  I like Aaron better than big ben and will be rooting for the Pack to win the Super Bowl
>Thinking about making maple bacon pancake cupcakes for the big game

we actually did sit in the sun.  we’d just climbed to the top to check out the view behind the stadium.  =)  my nose got a little pink while my toes froze solid!
