halloween wrap up
Halloween is over and November is here, hard to believe how fast time goes. The oak trees are now turning colors and dropping their leaves. Soon there won’t be any leaves left. Friday night Chris dressed in his gorilla costum to hand out candy to the little kids. Here you can see him doing the monkey in his monkey suit. Our friend Pratt came over and we went out to a couple bars for some drinks. Nothing to radical and crazy though.
The rest of the weekend was spent working hard on music and beads. Chris dove head first into writing mode and finished a song he’d been working on! I dug out my two large projects and started creating leaves and lacing. I got a ton done but not enough for pictures yet. I’ll work on it some more tonight.
Here are the last of the scary movies we watched in October…
Prince of Darkness: Chris rated this one because I fell asleep and miss the whole thing! A John Carpenter flick that takes waaaay too long to get the parts moving but reveals a genuinely frightening side as the end closes in. University scholars decode an old script that ultimately releases demonic forces and the individuals are possessed one by one. Special appearance by Alice Cooper! 3 out of 4 Satans.
Eraserhead: Another movie I let Chris review. I’m not a David Lynch fan. David Lynch’s film school nightmare was groundbreaking as a disturbing pic of an industrial and psychological wasteland. Hellish hallucinations, disturbing imagery, an infant (maybe?) and a fog surrounding it all that Lynch himself doesn’t answer to this day. There’s a reason Eraserhead shows up on so many scary-movie-lists. Amy’s review was “This movie is f*cked”. 4 out of 4 Eraserheads.
Silent Hill: We left work early on Friday b/c the weather was so nice. We ran some errands and then came home and put in Silent Hill. A movie based on a video game that Chris likes to play to scare the bejeezes out of himself. I’d seen him play it before…it’s a freaky game, the movie was ok. It did what all hollywood movies do to make American audiences happy…it explained things. Sometimes it’s more scary if things are just left to the imagination. Oh well…it still has some freaky parts. I give it 2 out of 4 pyramid heads.
