A Crymson Life

Lil’ Pumpkin

This morning we woke up and made a decision.  We looked up Labor Day on Wikipedia and found that Labor Day was created to give a day off for the “working man.”  So instead of attempting to be handy and installing the closet hardware we bought the day before, which inevitably would have made us crabby we took the meaning of Labor Day literally and relaxed. After this important decision I grabbed my orange beads that I discovered last night while putting Willow to bed and made another attempt at making a pumpkin.  Over the years I’ve tried making pumpkins before…but I was stuck on the idea of using a more basket weaving like technique that I was never happy with.  My idea from last night approached the project from a whole nother angle and I LOVE how it turned out.  The colors just glow and the stem makes it work perfectly.  I can’t stop picking it up and saying “lil’ pumpkin!”  The pumpkin stirred up ideas for a couple other projects but I’m not sure how they’ll form.
In the afternoon we went to the movies to see Ratatouille.  It was a cute and fun movie as all Pixar movies tend to be.  Not my favorite, I’m not sure if that’s b/c everyone raved about it so much I thought they’re be more.  It was still fun to get out of the house but still relaxing.  When we got home I cranked out petals for two more flowers.
And now I’m writing this while Chris plays his Madden game.  I have two more color combos jumping at me but my hands are moving a little more slowly.  I think the color calling is starting to quite down.  Which I’m really happy I got as much done as I did but now I’m surprisingly excited to get my greens out and finish some of these flowers.
The running total for petals since Thursday evening is….. petals for 15 flowers and one pumpkin completed.  phew…maybe now I’ll do those last two color combos.  wink

Oh, the pumpkin is really cute and the “petals” don’t seem to be complicated. Great idea for putting them together for a pumpkin. You are so creative!!! Maybe, I’ll try one for autumn when I am in the mood to ... However, I don’t think I’ll be able to make such a cool stem.

Thanks everyone!  I think this pumpkin is my new favorite thing right now too.  It’s not very big maybe about 2 inches tall.  And I’m all for making more, and something can be arranged LB, but I need to see if I can find more of that orange.  That just means a trip to my local bead store!  =0)
