movie marathon

Since R has come into the picture our lives have turned upside down.  There’s a lot of routine now and at the same time no day is really the same.  What is the same is that once R goes to bed C and I are tired.  We surf the net, blog, craft, or veg in front of the TV during the precious time he’s asleep and we’re still awake.  Lately we’ve been catching up on TV shows through netflix.  A half hour/hour show is the perfect thing to watch before bed and together.  While I was pregnant we would watch Resident Evil together.  Really a bad movie, but a movie we could make fun of and joke about together.  Some movies C and I just click together on and this is one of them.  We even watched part of the commentary which was awful. 

At some point we came up with the idea of watching a Michelle Rodriguez movie marathon.  She’s not the main character in Resident Evil but she’s a prominent one.  She tends to make bad movies and is always the same character.  She also was one of the lead characters in Lost season 2, Anna Lucia.  We did some research to see what films she’s done and put a bunch on our netflix que.  It’ll be a fun project for C and I, it’s hard to watch serious movies right now.  But a fun list like this should be a blast to work on.

So the first movie was watched was Resident Evil.  We’ve rented this movie multiple times from the movie store and watch it whenever its on TV.  Michelle’s character, Rain, does die in this movie but not before she’s full of one liners.  Her first line in the entire movie is “Blow me.”  Above I admitted to watching part of the commentary.  We didn’t make it through the whole thing but we did make it to a part where she admits to wearing leather underwear.  Not sure why that’s relevant but we find it humorous.  Rotten Tomatoes gave it 34%.

The second movie we watched was Blue Crush.  Michelle had a smaller role and played the best friend who gets left behind a little while her buddy gets the boy and the surf trophy.  She does live through this movie, but I don’t think she wears a shirt that covers her stomach through the entire film.  She had more dialogue in this movie but not so many good one liners.  The best I could come up with is “Don’t give us shit ‘cause you were out there working it.” 62% on rotten tomatoes.

The third movie we’ve watched is BloodRayne.  This movie is bad, I mean really bad.  It’s sort of a spin off the Blade movies only with a chick in weird leather pants.  Michelle plays Katarin, a vampire hunter, that joins forces with the semi-vamp lead character.  She dies in the movie but not before saying this famous line “you’re a curious one.” Doesn’t sound like much but we found it humorous.  4% on rotten tomatoes.
