A Crymson Life

on the horizon….beadwork

I realize that there hasn’t been a lot of blogging about beads lately. That’s mostly because I was taking advantage of spring weather to get the garden in and spring blooms to take pictures of. I also think I needed a little break from them. A couple things coming up have re-lit the beading sparks.

First is the Peoria Art Guild’s Member’s Show. As a member of the guild I can enter a piece into this exhibit and it is fast approaching. Back in January and February I was on a roll creating a bunch of flowers meant to be framed or mounted and hung on a wall. I have several of these flowers all finished up just needing to be mounted so they can be hung. This week I finished the first of these flowers, Morning Sari, pictured here and it will be on display at the Member’s Show. The show runs from June 19 thru August 8th with the opening reception on June 19th. The opening receptions are always a fun time. You get to look around at all the art and chat with some of the artists, then after ward I think we’re going to head down to the Water Street Cafe for some wine. Can’t beat that!

With the addition of a new line of flowers and with all the photography Mom and I have been brainstorming updates for the website. Some time this summer when I get the rest of the wall flowers mounted and take pictures we’ll be redoing the gallery and perhaps tweaking some other aspects of the site. It’s always exciting to get freshened up, but so far we’re still in the brainstorming stages.

There is another event that is on the horizon but everything is not quite set in stone. I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen though so I’ll mention it briefly here. A local winery is hosting an art festival that I’m hoping to participate in. It will keep me in the beading and art scene for the summer and it’s just the right size for me right now. The festival is in July and on a Sunday. They’ll have wine tastings, live music, about 30 artists, and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. We really enjoy going here and sipping wine. In preparation and sheer excitement I’ve been finishing up my pile of half done flowers. I’m brainstorming what I might need to fill up some space and I’ve come up with a few ideas for smaller items. I’ll have some clip lilies and my newest idea is wine glass charms. I’ve been having a blast making these. I’ll have to take a pic when I give them a test run! I’ve also been collecting lampwork from Misty and am hoping to use some of these in some flowers as well. I’ll post more specific details when it gets closer and I get all the paperwork turned in.

I am getting really hungry when looking at the menu of the Water Street Cafe. I’ll take Curried Chicken or Chicken pesto Wrap. smile The wine selection seems also to be huge! I am wishing you a lot of fun at the opening reception and at the cafe.
The flower looks so unique again and it looks great on the frame!
