ornaments a success

I spoke with the art guild last week and received some exciting news.  The flower ornaments I had on display there over the Christmas season sold really well.  They sold half of the stock that I gave them.  Which is pretty good considering the economy lately.  I was really impressed with their display.  Instead of putting them on a tree they hung all the ornaments from a display unit that has some white chistmas lights on it.  Then put their fancy lighting on the pieces themselves.  The flowers really sparkle under their lights so they looked really great.  The lady behind the counter told me people were buying them as gift decorations and pins as well as ornaments.  Under normal circumstances this would be a huge inspiration to get me back in the bead room.  I tried, on Saturday I went in there and looked around.  But it just didn’t feel right picking up any beads.  And flowers aren’t really whats on my mind right now.

Instead I went and ran some errands around town.  I dropped off 5 rolls of 120 film to be developed.  They were pretty much all taken over the Christmas weekend.  Then I stopped in the fabric store and picked up some fat quarters from the quilting section as well as some felt.  I turned a corner of the basement into a little fiber station where I crocheted and sewed for the rest of the weekend.  I’m officially halfway done with the baby blanket.  And pics to come soon of what I’ve been sewing.  It’s not the rock quilt.  (I did look for backing fabric but nothing looked right, it could be a project alone to find the right stuff).  And if any holgas turn out there will be new pics to share soon too.

I could totally see those strung up in a beaded hippie doorway! In fact, I kind of love that idea. Or for a party!
