we’re back
We’re back from a wonderful vacation and happy to be home for a while. Surprisingly we managed to relax while on vacation. We spent our days either at the beach playing in the waves or laying in the sun, strolling through the galleries in downtown Saugatuck, eating wonderfully cooked fresh food, and enjoying ice cream for dessert….repeat that for a week straight and anyone could relax!
I think it might have been Monday when we stopped in a small bar called Phil’s for lunch. It was a dark bar with high ceilings, and they put recycled paper on your table before your meal. On each table was a small cup of crayons. We ordered drinks and food and doodled goofy things while chatting. Soon I was doodling flowers (mostly b/c I’m not very good at doodling much else) and drew out some ideas I had brewing that I didn’t even know were there. Ever since the inspiration and idea flow has been nonstop. I have the design of the flower I plan to donate to the 8x8 this fall figured out. I’m excited about a new large bead project. I have the concept and sort of the design down…now how to construct it might be another story.
We got home Friday so I spent parts of the weekend in the bead room cleaning up old projects and organizing a bit. When I got a couple ideas on how to finish some of my holga photos. I buy prints of all the images I get developed, first b/c I haven’t figure out how to scan my film yet, and second b/c its more fun to me to figure through the pictures rather than clicking a mouse. I hadn’t really thought much about framing or hanging this images, but now I have a couple ideas. And out of the blue I’m excited about buying a pinhole holga. I’ll go more into pinhole photography later. But I came up with some ideas and think it could be fun. The results of pinholes are really cool. Very soft dreamlike images.
So that’s just the beginning of the ideas that are coming to me. I have beginnings of plans for several other flowers. Probably mostly wall flowers. I have a pile of half made flowers that would make a nice bouquet if I finished them. Which would be lovely for fall. A second even larger project is starting to perk my interest. I have to pick out a color combo that will make me happy for a long time. It’s a doozy of a project! Maybe it’s something about the seasons, b/c in fall it seems like I’m rearing to go creatively.

I know what a pinhole camera is but I always thought it is just a camera, you can kinda craft out of DIY material. As a child, I had a couple of instructions for making a pinhole camera. So, I am not quite sure, what exactly the pinhole Holga is ... I can’t wait to read more about it.
I am glad that you had a few relaxing days!
